BU Signs Commit, Sydnie Hanson

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University women's basketball program is pleased to announce that it picked up its second commitment for the 2014-15 season by signing Sydnie Hanson out of Blue Valley High School in Stillwell, Kan.

Hanson is currently a guard at Blue Valley HS and has been a three-year starter for the Tigers. During her high school career, Blue Valley has reached the state tournament every year including twice making it to the state championship game.

As a junior, Sydnie averaged 10 points, four rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. She shot 43% from the three-point line and garnered All-Conference recognition.

She was also named to the Olathe South All-tournament team last season. She has excelled in the classroom as well and is currently on the Principal's Honor Roll.

"Sydnie is extremely passionate about basketball," said Baker head women's basketball coach Ben Lister. "Her work ethic has got her to where she is and will be a big asset at this level. She has been a part of a very successful program and has a winning mentality.

"Sydnie can flat out shoot the ball and that is something we value in our offense. She has very good range and can be effective off the dribble as well. We are excited she chose Baker and will be great fit for our program both on and off the court."
