Baker Survives Against Haskell, 74-71

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Despite committing 25 turnovers, the Baker University women's basketball team came out of Lawrence with a 74-71 win over Haskell Indian Nations University at Tony Coffin Sports Complex Tuesday night.

The Wildcats improved to 5-1 on the year and were led by Brianna Garza's 22 points, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.

Kyrstie Ehm, Shea Shoemaker, and Macy Wallisch also scored in double figures for the Wildcats. Ehm had 15 points, while Shoemaker and Wallisch each totaled 10 points.

The Wildcats outrebounded the Indians 58-35. Wallisch and Tenpenny each had a season high eight rebounds.

Baker was down for the majority of the first half and went into the break down five, 34-29. But the 'Cats responded after halftime and outscored Haskell, 45-37.

Baker shot 32.2 percent from the field and was an impressive 28-of-35 from the charity stripe for 80-percent.

The Wildcats held HINU to 32.1 percent shooting, including 37-percent from beyond the arc.

Baker will next compete in the Mid-America Christian Classic in Oklahoma City, Okla., Friday and Saturday Nov. 22 and 23. The Wildcats will take on Mid-America Christian Friday at 8 p.m., and Southwestern Christian Saturday at 4 p.m.
