'Cats Upset No. 14 Benedictine, 69-56

ATCHISON, Kan. – The Baker University women's basketball team not only picked up its second road win of the season over a ranked opponent, but won its second road game over a ranked HAAC conference foe, as they took down No. 14 Benedictine, 69-56.

The Wildcats earlier in the season took down nationally ranked Central Methodist, 72-63, back on Dec. 16.

With the win, Baker improves to 10-5 overall and is now 3-1 in the HAAC and in second place in the conference standings.

Baker led for the majority of the night with the help of three double-digit scorers, as Kyrstie Ehm led the squad with 20 points and Shea Shoemaker poured in 13 and point guard BriAnna Garza had 10.

Baker held the normally strong three-point shooting Ravens to just 3-of-13 from behind the arc and caused 14 BC turnovers.

The Wildcats led, 36-26, at the break and then outscored BC, 33-30, in the second frame.

BU was solid from the free-throw line shooting 16-of-22, while the Ravens were 11-of-16 for 68.8-percent.

Shoemaker and Simpson led the charge in rebounding with seven each and Garza had a team high four assists. Taylor Chase also added six rebounds.
