Senior point guard BriAnna Garza was named the 2014 HAAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year, while sophomore Macy Wallisch earned the 2014 HAAC Defensive Player of the Year and for the second-straight year head coach Ben Lister was named the 2014 HAAC Coach of the Year.
Garza was also named to the First Team All-Conference and teammates Shea Shoemaker earned a spot on the Second Team All-HAAC, junior Kyrstie Ehm was selected to the Third Team All-Conference and Wallisch was named to the Honorable Mention All-Conference squad.
"I am extremely proud of what our team has accomplished this season," Lister said. "For the second straight year, we have exceeded preseason expectations and this year we accomplished something that Baker can enjoy and be proud of for a long time as conference champions. To do that, it takes a collective team effort. It also takes individuals playing at a high level.
"I am very proud of BriAnna, Shea, Kyrstie, and Macy for their hard work and contributions to the team. BriAnna went from an honorable mention all-conference player last season to the HAAC Player of the Year this season which says how much she has grown and meant to the success of our team. Shea averaged four points a game last year and is now a second team all-conference player. Kyrstie went from coming off the bench to a third team all-conference performer, and Macy went from a limited role player to the HAAC Defensive Player of the Year and all-conference honorable mention. It shows what hard work and dedication can do and they along with their teammates have been relentless in pushing this program forward."
Garza led the 'Cats in scoring during the regular season at 14.6 points per game and led the HAAC in assists per game at 4.59.
Wallisch earned the HAAC Defensive Player of the Year honor after leading the HAAC with 88 blocks and 3.03 per game this season and was fifth in the conference in rebounds per game at 7.45.
Shoemaker was third on the team in scoring at 10.2 points per game and was impressive from the free-throw line going 71-of-89 for 79.8-percent.
Ehm was the second leading scorer in the 2013-14 regular season at 12.4 points per game for BU and knocked down 39 three-point field goals, second on the team.
