Bowling slated to begin this fall
Women's bowling will be a new addition to the women's sports program at Baker University this fall. The team will not compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Rather, the bowlers will be a part of the United States Bowling Congress. Baker can be expected to face a variety of competition from all collegiate levels.
Leading the 'Cats will be head coach Kristal Wilson (pictured). Wilson, a graduate of Wichita State University was a three-time All-American and placed third in the 2001 World Cup. In 2008, Wilson was a finalist in the Women's U.S. Open and in 2001 and 2002 participated for team USA.
Being an experienced player should help Wilson take on the duties as a first-year coach. "I bring a lot of experience from when I was a player for the program I went through. I should be able to use a lot of that to my advantage here at Baker," Wilson said.
The roster currently has eight players, all working toward the goal of improving in each tournament.
The team is slated to being competition on October 10 in Wichita, Kan.
