Women’s bowling advances to first-ever USBC Intercollegiate Sectional Championships

USBC Sectionals

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Baker University women’s bowling team made history this past weekend as the United States Bowling Congress announced sectional-qualifying assignments for the 2011 USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships.

The Baker women finished 26th out of 44 teams in Hoosier Classic held in Indianapolis, Ind. The Wildcats top bowler Caitlin Campbell (Topeka, Kan.) led the Wildcats with a 13th-place individual finish, averaging 193.0 per game.

Brittany Barker (Olathe, Kan.) also had a solid showing finishing 48th overall with an average of 178.0.

“All of our girls bowled over their averages in the tournament,” said head coach Cheryl Keslar. “My brain is just spinning right now, getting to the next level in our second year is fantastic and unbelieveable at the same time.  The last few weeks of practice the girls were 150 percent dedicated to focus and getting ready for this tournament.  They worked together as a team, and the outcome was what we were prepared for. I am so proud to be their coach!”

The Baker women will travel to Euless, Texas on March 12-13 at AMF Euless Lanes for the sectional championships.  Caitlin Campbell, Brittany Barker, and Emily Buhler (Topeka, Kan.) will also be bowling in the USBC Intercollegiate Singles Sectionals event on Friday, March 11.
