LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Baker University bowling team competed in two tournaments in Nevada over the Holiday Break and posted two Top 10 finishes.

In its first tournament, the Wildcats took sixth out of 16 teams at the Collegiate Shoot-Out at The Orleans in Las Vegas on Dec. 17-18th.

Three bowlers finished in the Top 20 including sophomore Carly Schmidtlein, who took 16th averaging 178 pins in six games played. Junior Brittany Barker took 18th with an average of 177 and senior Caitlin Campbell finished 19th with an average of 176.

After its two-day tourney at The Orleans, Baker then traveled down the road to Henderson, Nev., to take part in the Glen Carlson Las Vegas Invitational at the Sunset Casino, Dec. 19-20.

Baker took seventh out of 16 teams and posted two Top 20 individual finishers. Campbell led the way with her 197 average over nine games and finished seventh.

Schmidtlein took home 17th with an average of 185 pins. Brittani Kelly had her best finish of the year with her average of 174.

In one of the most exciting matches of the tournament, Baker took on defending national champion Webber International. The Wildcats took Webber to five games, with the Warriors coming out on top in the end, but Baker fought hard all the way to the end.

Baker's next tournament takes place Jan. 19-20 in South Bend, Ind., in the Gold Classic. The Wildcats will compete against 55 other schools.
