The Baker University football team kicked off their 2009 campaign on Saturday evening when they took on No. 16 Missouri Valley College. From start to finish, the Vikings had the game in control. Going into halftime Baker trailed 21-0, and things didn't improve from there. The Vikings defense held Baker to 3 rushing yards, 193 passing yards, and 196 yards of total offense.Andrew Patch

Heading into the 4th quarter Baker trailed the Vikings 34-0. Andrew Patch (pictured) provided one of the only highlights when he returned a 57 yard interception at the 14:42 mark in the 4th quarter. Late in the game Richie Bryant punched in a touchdown with a 5 yard run capping off the only scores the Wildcats had in the game.

Quarterback Mack Brown threw for 193 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. "Being a former quarterback myself, I understood what Mack was going through out there. He wasn't getting the protection he needed so I told him he had to try to get the ball off a little quicker," stated Coach Grossner. "I truly believe we have a great football team, we just need to regroup for next Saturday because we've got a very talented team coming to town," stated Grossner

The Wildcats will be back in action next Saturday when they host No. 8 MidAmerica Nazarene at 6:00 p.m.
