Baker hosts Benedictine on Maple Leaf Festival weekendMaple Leaf

The Wildcats will look to get back on track this weekend when they take on HAAC rival Benedictine College.  The Wildcats come into play 2-3, while the Ravens come in at 3-3.

Baker and Benedictine have both played common opponents in Missouri Valley, MidAmerica Nazarene and Avila University.  The Wildcats opened with those three opponents, and the Ravens met the same three the past three weekends.  Both squads beat Avila and lost to the other two.

Last Week
Benedictine blanked Avila 31-0 last weekend to snap a three-game skid as senior quarterback Ryan Kelly threw for 137 yards and two touchdown passes to Chris Langley.

Baker was defeated by No. 3 Lindenwood University 52-30. Quarterback Mack Brown passed for 247 with 1 touchdown.  Mack has now thrown for 1,034 yards this season, increasing his career total to 7,376 yards to top the passing charts at Baker.

Just for Kicks
Senior Wildcat Derek Doerfler, who has kicked 12 field goals longer than 50 yards, connected on a 41 yarder in last week's loss to Lindenwood to tie the school record for field goals in a career (41). Mike Gardner kicked 41 field goals from 1986 to 1989. Doerfler already holds the Wildcat record for longest field goal (62 yards), field goals made in a game (5) and season (23).

Chart Climber
Baker senior running back Richie Bryant rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns last week against Lindenwood, increasing his season total to 10 TD's to top the Heart of America Athletic Conference.  He has moved to No. 5 all time on the Baker rushing charts with 2,713 career yards and is tied for second with 36 career rushing TD's.

Series Record
Baker defeated Benedictine 35-24 last year for its third consecutive victory over the Ravens, evening the series record at 12-12-1.  Benedictine had won six in a row over Baker before 2006.
