Wildcats record shutout over Central Methodist in season finale

R. Harris

FAYETTE, Mo. – The Baker seniors went out in style Saturday afternoon recording a 34-0 shutout in the season finale against Central Methodist University.

Freshman running back Scottie Meyer had his breakout game of the season rushing for 190 yards with one touchdown. Meyer also caught a 10-yard touchdown pass late in the second quarter.

Quarterback Jake Morse was 13-for-20 with two touchdowns and one interception.

Defense was the story though. The Baker defense had not recorded a shutout since a 45-0 win over Culver-Stockton College during the 2009 season. That all changed on Saturday as the Baker defense held the Eagles to just 18 minutes of possession.

Seniors Colton Miller, Calvin Pearce and Matt Brock led the way each recording seven tackles apiece. Miller recorded his third interception in two games.

Baker (7-3 HAAC, 7-4 overall) will have high hopes heading into 2011. With a season-opening showdown with Ottawa looming nearly 10 months away, the Wildcats will begin preparing tomorrow.
