Wildcats return home to play Central Methodist
Baker University, coming off its first loss of the season, will play host to Central Methodist in Heart of America Athletic Conference football on Saturday. Kickoff for the Baker Family Day contest is 6 p.m. at Liston Stadium.
The Wildcats (2-1 overall and 1-1 in the HAAC) suffered a 34-27 setback to Evangel last week after outscoring their first two opponents 96-28. The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak. Central Methodist (1-1, 1-1) opened the season with 24-0 loss to MidAmerica Nazarene before bouncing back with a 30-0 shutout over Avila. The Eagles finished last season with a 3-7 record.
BU sophomore quarterback Jake Morse is coming off a career-high 412-yard passing performance to hike his season total to 722 passing yards with five touchdowns to lead the conference. He also set a school record last week with 50 pass attempts.
Juniors Jake Green (182 yards) and Kyle Bolton (153 yards) are Morse’s favorite receivers.
Senior John Babb is the Wildcats’ top rusher with 34 carries for 259 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, junior linebacker Adam Steele averages 9.7 tackles a game to lead Baker.
Baker enters the game with a four-game winning streak at Liston.
