Steele Earns HAAC Defensive Award

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – For the second straight week a Baker University linebacker has earned the Heart of America Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the week, as senior Adam Steele earned the award this week.

Fellow linebacker Emmerson Clarke won last week’s award after the Wildcats 27-20 win at No. 11 Ottawa on August 25.

Steele collected a team high 14 tackles in Baker’s 34-13 win over Peru State on Saturday and helped the Wildcats improve to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the HAAC.

Steele had eight solo tackles and six assisted tackles and recorded two tackles for loss. The Baker defense allowed just 92 yards passing against the Bobcats. Steele has 16 tackles combined in Baker’s two wins this season.

Baker will take on Evangel this Saturday, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. for its 2012 home opener. Fans can watch the game live online and follow with live stats at www.bakerwildcats.com.
