WACO, Texas – For the first time since the 2010 season and just the sixth time in the history of the Baker University football program, the Wildcats had a representative on the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) NAIA Coaches' All-America team.

The Wildcat to earn a spot on the list of 25 players from around the country is Gardner, Kan., native Andre Jolly.

The sophomore defensive lineman is the first Wildcat to make the squad since Colton Miller earned a spot in 2010. He is the third Wildcat to be named an AFCA All-American in head coach Mike Grossners' tenure at Baker, as kicker Derek Doerfler was the third Wildcat in 2007.

Jolly finished the regular season ranked No. 1 in the NAIA in sacks per game at 1.5 and total sacks with 16. He also ranks No. 2 in the NAIA in tackles for loss at two per game and No. 3 in the country in total tackles for loss with 22. He also finished the season third on the team in total tackles with 58.

The Wildcats went 8-3 in 2012 and made its second appearance in the NAIA FCS Playoffs in five seasons and finished the year ranked No. 11 in the final NAIA Coaches' Top 25 poll.

The other three Wildcats to earn AFCA All-America honors for Baker were offensive lineman John Campbell in 1990, running back Kevin Alewine in 1985 and linebacker Chris Brown in 1983.

The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and currently selects teams in all five of its divisions. What makes these teams so special is that they are the only ones chosen exclusively by the men who know the players the best - the coaches themselves.

"Andre was relentless in his pursuit to be great this year," said Grossner. "He ran with a great motor every day in practice. He now owns the all-time school record for sacks. Quite an accomplishment for a sophomore. We are very proud of him."
