The day will be filled with events on campus for Family Day and Baker will honor the five branches 0f the United States military. All military personnel will be admitted in for free to Saturday's game with valid ID and under the direction of Ray James, the Baker Pep Band will be playing the military salutes for the five different military branches.
Weather permitting, there will also be a helicopter fly over Liston Stadium by veteran helicopter pilot and traffic reporter for KMBC9 News, Johnny Rowlands.
Saturday also marks a milestone for head coach Mike Grossner, as he celebrates his 100th career game as head coach of the Wildcats. Coach is 56-43 in his 10 years at Baker and is the fourth winningest coach in the rich history of the football program dating back to 1890.
The Wildcats are 2-1 on the year, while the Avila Eagles also come in with a 2-1 record.
Each team fell in its Heart of America Athletic Conference opener, with Baker falling on the road at Benedictine, 42-28, and Avila lost to Evangel at home, 43-20.
Avila and Baker have met 12 times in the history of the AU football program which originated in the 2001 season. Baker is a perfect 12-0 all-time against the Eagles and defeated AU last season, 42-13, at home on October 6, 2012.
Avila has scored 141 points in its first three games this season and put up 80 points in its season opening win over Haskell Indian Nations University which was a school record.
They average 302 yards per game of total offense and have scored 11 rushing touchdowns and four touchdowns through the air.
The Eagle defense has proven to force its opponent to many turnovers so far this season, with a plus-nine turnover margin.
Baker's vice this season has been its defense. Baker has given up a total of 1,569 total yards of offense and 1,116 of that passing.
The Wildcats will look to get more pressure on the quarterback on Saturday and try and free up space for defensive ends Andre Jolly and Tyrell Everett.
Darrick Smith leads the team in total tackles with 22 and defensive backs Mike Stevenson and Duane Sims are second with 21. Both will look to lock down the Avila receivers with the help of corner's Avery Parker and Josh Fairley.
Gunnar McKenna and Preston Randolph will man the safety spots and Preston Schenck will provide some depth off the bench.
