Packers coach McCarthy’s love of coaching began at Baker
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Go south at the only traffic light, past the three-way stop and the story is tucked behind the double-doors of the gym on the left side. The head coach of the Green Bay Packers is smiling back at you in an artist’s drawing on a modest plaque on the bottom row, tucked between a swim coach and former basketball star.
The man’s bond with this town of 4,000 reveals itself in conversations with those who lived it. You should’ve been there that night, they’ll tell you, when a few hundred people packed into the Baker University president’s house to induct Mike McCarthy into the school’s Hall of Fame.
