KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the second-straight year, Baker University will come into the 2010 campaign ranked in the Top 25 nationally.

Despite losing two of their top offensive performers, running back Richie Bryant (two-time all-conference first-team selection) and quarterback Mack Brown (all-time passing leader in school history), the Wildcats edged their way into the poll at No.24.

The Baker coaching staff will lead the American squad in the Senior Classic.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. - The Baker University football coaching staff has officially been selected to guide the student-athletes competing in the fourth annual College Fanz Sports Network Senior Classic, Saturday, April 24th at Salina Stadium in Salina, Kan.

The Baker coaching staff will face-off against the Ottawa University coaching staff in a game that features 130 former NAIA football players against one another in a showcase of talent and character. Former Baker players featured in the game include: Richie Bryant (Louisiana, Mo.), Mack Brown (Liberty, Mo.), and Rodney Harris (Olathe, Kan.). The Baker players and coaches will be representing the American squad, while the Ottawa coaches will represent the Nationals.

Wildcats announce changes to 2010 spring schedule

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Due to the re-installment of new field turf at Liston Stadium, the Baker University football team has made changes to its 2010 spring football schedule. Spring practice is slated to begin on April 16, with the first scrimmage on April 22.

The annual Alumni Game and Senior Awards day is scheduled for May 1, with action slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.

Former Avila head coach Bruce Young returns to BakerBruce Young

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University football staff is pleased to announce the addition of former Baker assistant coach and Avila head coach Bruce Young to the coaching staff.

Young returns to Baker after serving as head coach at Avila University for the past five years. During his tenure at Avila, Young graduated 50 of 52 seniors, raised the team grade-point average from 2.2 to 2.8 and coached 10 academic All-Americans.

A member of the Missouri High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame, Young enjoyed success at Norborne, Marceline and Ray-Pec high schools. Young was an assistant coach at Baker University for five seasons before taking over Avila’s program.

4th Annual Victory Sports Network First Down Classic Features a Battle of Gridiron Rivals as Baker University Meets Ottawa University Saturday, Aug. 28th in Ottawa, Kansas

Grand Island, Neb. – Victory Sports Network, the world's largest online college sports community launched by ESPN founder Bill Rasmussen, today announced that the Ottawa University Braves will host the Baker University Wildcats in the fourth annual Victory Sports First Down Classic. The football game is tentatively set to kick-off on Saturday, August 28th at 6 p.m. Central Time at People's Bank Field in Ottawa, Kan.

Wildcats release spring schedule

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker football team has announced three upcoming events for the spring season. The Wildcats will hold scrimmages at 10 a.m. on April 17 and at 4 p.m. on April 23. Also, the alumni game is scheduled for 1 p.m. on May 1 with senior awards being presented at halftime.

Wildcats finish 23rd in final top-25 pollTD

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Wildcats' No. 23 ranking in the final NAIA top-25 poll marks the Wildcats' first back-to-back final top-25 ranking since the 1993-1994 seasons.

The Wildcats capped a 7-3 season with a 33-7 victory over No. 24 Central Methodist University on Nov. 14.

In 2008 the Wildcats finished 8-4 and were ranked No. 12 nationally in the final NAIA top-25 poll.
