Wildcats blast Culver-Stockton, 71-21 in Homecoming game
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – It took all but 37 seconds for the Wildcats to strike first on Saturday afternoon, as they went on to rout Culver-Stockton College 71-21 on Homecoming Saturday.
Offensively, the Wildcats racked up 565 yards of total offense as sophomore quarterback Jake Morse threw for 317 yards with five touchdowns.
Jake Green led the Wildcats receiving core with five receptions for 95 yards and two touchdowns. John Babb stabilized the rushing attack with 126 yards on 17 carries.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Sophomore quarterback Jake Morse (Lenexa, Kan.) was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday.
Morse had an efficient game in the Wildcats 37-20 win over Avila University Saturday, connecting on 20-of-26 passes for 298 yards with three TDs.
Morse will represent the conference for the NAIA weekly awards, which will be announced Monday afternoon.

Huge first half lifts Baker past Avila 37-20
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Baker University football team got the bounce-back result it needed on Saturday afternoon with a commanding, 37-20 victory over Avila University.
The Wildcats (4-3, 3-3 HAAC) scored 20 points in the first quarter on two touchdown passes from Jake Morse and one rushing score by Kyle Bolton. Andrew Kimry added a field goal in the second quarter, before Morse completed another touchdown pass to Joel Murphy. Avila finally got on the scoreboard with 28 seconds remaining in half on touchdown pass by Jacob Hicks to James Russell.
The Eagles (0-6, 0-4 HAAC) scored just three minutes out of the break on another touchdown pass from Hicks, but Baker proved to be too much down the stretch as running back Scottie Meyer made his return from injury with a rushing touchdown just two plays later.

No. 8 MidAmerica escapes past Baker 33-30
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Eighth-ranked MidAmerica Nazarene got a scare on Saturday afternoon as they managed to escape Liston Stadium with a 33-30 victory.
Andrew Kimrey put the Wildcats on the board first with a field goal with 6:37 remaining in the first quarter, but MNU quickly responded scoring in less than two minutes to take back the lead on a Sean Ransburg touchdown pass to Branden Phillips.
BU’s highlight play of the first half came on a double pass from Jake Morse to Xavier Lewis, who then threw a 38-yard touchdown strike to Jake Green, giving Baker a 10-7 lead.

Wildcats host No. 8 MNU Saturday afternoon in blackout game
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University football team will look for another marquee victory at Liston Stadium this weekend when it hosts No. 8 MidAmerica Nazarene at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The Wildcats (3-2 overall, 2-2 HAAC) are coming off a 38-7 defeat last week to No. 6 Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo.
Saturday also marks the Wildcats’ ‘BLACKOUT’ game. All Baker fans are encouraged to wear black T-shirts to the game, or purchase the custom-made blackout T-shirts at the Baker tent at Liston.

No. 6 Missouri Valley cruises to 38-7 victory over No. 22 Baker
MARSHALL, Mo. – The Baker University football team remains winless on the road after falling to Missouri Valley College 38-7 on Saturday evening.
Baker scored its only touchdown with just four minutes remaining in regulation as Sam Vossen connected with Kyle Bolton for a 25-yard score, the longest play of the game for the Wildcats.
Offensively, the running game was stagnant as Baker had only 22 yards on 28 attempts. The Wildcats finished the game with 169 yards of total offense, while Missouri Valley racked up 487 yards.

Wildcats set for showdown with Missouri Valley College
MARSHALL, Mo. – The 22nd ranked Baker University football team will take its show to the road for the second time this season when it faces sixth-ranked Missouri Valley College on Saturday at 6 p.m.
The Wildcats (3-1, 2-1 HAAC) are coming off a 31-7 victory over Central Methodist last Saturday. Baker entered the fourth quarter trailing 7-3, before going on a 28-0 run in the final quarter.
Quarterback Jake Morse completed 18 of 29 passes for 183 yards and one touchdown. Morse, John Babb and Kyle Rooks all scored on TD runs. Jake Green finished as Baker’s top receiver with five receptions for 102 yards and one touchdown.

Wildcats move up four spots in NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 poll
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Baker University football team moved up for sports in the Sept. 19 NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 poll to No. 22.
Three other Heart of America Athletic Conference teams are represented in the poll, including next week’s opponent No. 6 Missouri Valley College, No. 9 MidAmerica Nazarene and No. 13 Benedictine College.
The Wildcats travel to Missouri Valley College on Saturday for a 6 p.m. kickoff in Marshall, Mo.
