NBC Action News visits Baker football
The 2009 Baker University football team will be featured this Sunday at 10:00 PM on NBC Action News. Sports reporter Lance Veeser will discuss the expectations of the upcoming season with senior starting quarterback Mack Brown, and head coach Mike Grossner. Both Mack and coach Grossner discuss the steps it took to become one of the elite teams in the nation over the past four years.
Wildcats Ranked 12th Nationally in Spring Preseason Poll
For the first time under head coach Mike Grossner, Baker University football enters the fall with a top-25 ranking. The Wildcats were ranked 12th in the preseason poll.
"It says a lot about how we've progressed over the past five years," stated Mike Grossner, entering his sixth season with the Wildcats.
Baker joins three other Heart of America Athletic Conference teams in the poll (No. 3 Lindenwood, No. 8 MidAmerica Nazarene and No. 16 Missouri Valley).
Baker begins its 2009 season with a trip to Missouri Valley on Sept. 5 and returns home to face MidAmerica Nazarene on Sept. 11.

2008 Wildcats Have Record-Setting Year
Mack Brown Enters Senior Season With High Expectations
Entering his fourth season as Baker's starting quarterback, Mack Brown owns nearly all of the Wildcats' passing records, including yards in a game (433), season (3,185) and career (6,342). A transfer from the University of Colorado, Brown threw for 22 touchdowns with seven interceptions in 2008.
"Mack really settled in and provides a calm over our football team," Head Coach Mike Grossner said. "We have a guy who can lead us through the tough times and make some big plays for us. He's pretty durable and has an elusiveness that is uncanny."
Wildcats Ranked Ninth Nationally in Preseason Poll
College Fanz NAIA preview magazine has ranked Baker University at No. 9 in the preseason along with being named one of the dark horses in the national title picture.
"If you eliminated the top five teams from the postseason, I would lean toward someone like Baker or Shorter winning the national title," stated magazine contributor Jason Dannelly.
