Shorthanded Wildcats fall at BenedictineMalcolm Greer

ATCHISON, Kan. - A shorthanded and undersized Baker men's basketball team gave a valiant effort before falling 68-78 to rival Benedictine College Thursday evening.

The Wildcats, playing without Ryan Douvier, Jack Shortell, and Ryckey Harper are without a true post player in uniform and have been injury plagued all season.

Baker and Benedictine played head-to-head for the first 20 minutes of play. Baker cut a 10 point deficit to four heading into the half, but the Wildcats deficit stretched to 15 in the second half with 10 minutes to go.

The Wildcats managed to get three players in double figures, including senior Malcolm Greer (pictured), who scored a game-high 19 points and shot 7-11 from the field. Andre Strozier and Jaris Wommack chipped in with 17 apiece.

As a team, the Wildcats shot better than Benedictine from the field, finishing the game at a 49.1-percent clip.

Baker will travel to Lindenwood University Saturday evening for a 8:30 p.m., tipoff.
