Coach Ballard announces 2011-12 signing class

Recruiting Update

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Head coach Brett Ballard has been busy this past spring preparing for the 2011-12 basketball season, as the team announced the signing of seven student-athletes.

“I am very excited about this recruiting class that we are bringing in,” Ballard said. “This is a highly competitive group that will come to work everyday in practice and go to battle every night on the court. I believe we have addressed some immediate needs from talent standpoint. These young men will represent Baker University well both in the classroom and on the court.”

Todd Ellis | 6’2 | Guard | Washburn University | Shawnee Mission, Kan.
Coaches Comments: “A transfer from Washburn University, Ellis brings experience and the ability to play multiple guard positions. Ellis will have three years of eligibility remaining at Baker after red shirting one year, and playing one year at Washburn. Ellis was a highly recruited high school player who is excited to revive his basketball career at Baker.”

Jordan Honore | 6’1 | Point Guard | Johnson County Community College | Houston, Texas
Coaches Comments: “Honore is a quick and intelligent point guard that will be a great floor general for the team. He is quick with the ball and can really put pressure on the defense with his speed. The point guard position is wide open and he has the ability to run the show from the time he steps on campus.”

Todd Johnston | 6’1 | Guard | Cloud County Community College | Kincaid, Kan.
Coaches Comments: “Todd is a pure shooter. He is a gym rat that will constantly work on his game. He is tough and will provide our program with a great competitive spark. He has worked hard to make himself a very good player and I like the junior college experience he brings to the table.

Kevin Lysaught | 6’5 | Guard | Kansas City Kansas Community College | Shawnee, Kan.
Coaches Comments: “Kevin is a great student and has really developed as a basketball player. He will play primarily on the wing and has a very solid stroke. Kevin is a great student and was a crucial piece to a team that won 25 games this past season. We believe he can step up and contribute right away.”

Brandon Moore | 6’2 | Guard | Blair Oaks High School | Jefferson City, Mo.
Coaches Comments: “Brandon averaged 25 points per game in high school. He can put the ball in the bucket and played for a great high school program. NCAA DII’s heavily recruited Brandon, but he choose to come to Baker. He is a gym rat and will be a fixture in the Baker backcourt for the next four years.”

Ben Steinlage | 6’6 | Post | Cloud County Community College | Corning, Kan.
Coaches Comments: “Ben is a tough nosed four-man that will do whatever it takes to win. He is skilled and can stretch the defense with his shooting. He started for a team that won 19 games this year and will bring a very strong work ethic to the Baker program. Ben comes from a hardworking family, so he won’t be afraid to roll up his sleeves and get after it.”

Nick Wilson, a 6’7 forward from Paola, Kan. Was previously announced and can be viewed by clicking here
