Wildcats improve to 4-1 with 70-42 victory over rival Ottawa
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Coming off a tough loss on Friday evening, the Baker University men’s basketball team bounced back Saturday with a 70-42 victory over Ottawa University.
A balanced offensive attack was key as the Wildcats had five players score in double figures. Todd Johnston led the way with 13 points, while shooting 4-for-7 from the floor and 1-for-4 from beyond the arc. Kevin Lysaught had 11 points with seven rebounds while Brandon Moore, Jack Shortell, and Ben Steinlage each added 10.
The defense was the story though as the Wildcats held Ottawa to just 16-for-54 (29 percent) from the floor and 2-for-10 (20 percent) from beyond the arc.
“I was happy we were able to put together two solid halves today,” said head coach Brett Ballard. “I thought our defense was terrific.”
Baker (4-1) returns to action on Nov. 15 when they travel to Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) for a 7 p.m., tipoff.
