Todd Johnston’s buzzer-beater lifts Baker past Bethany, 63-62
McPHERSON, Kan. – After losing just their second game of the season on Friday night, the Baker men’s basketball team bounced back on Saturday with a thrilling 63-62 victory over Bethany (Kan.).
Big shots were the story of the game for the Wildcats, and none were bigger than Todd Johnston’s buzzer-beating three-pointer.
“The guys did a good job battling and not giving in.,” said head coach Brett Ballard. “We had some guys step up and make some big shots when we needed them.”
Jordan Honore led the Wildcats with 13 points and five assists. Jack Shortell added 11 points and Todd Johnston and Baba Diallo each finished with 10.
Baker (6-2) finished the contest 22-for-53 (42 percent) from the floor and 7-for-16 (43 percent) from beyond the arc.
Bethany (1-5) had two players finish in double figures as Trey Beachum led the Swedes with 20 points.
Baker returns to action on Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. against Ottawa University.
