A defensive breakdown was also the story for Baker in their second game of the tournament as San Diego Christian shot a whopping 54 percent from the field and 55 percent from beyond the arc. Samer Jasser (11 points) and Corey Anderson (10 points) were the only Wildcats to score in double figures. San Diego Christian had three players finish in double figures as Tim Sanders led the way with 17 points.
“I’m very disappointed with the results from this trip,” said head coach Brett Ballard. “We knew we were playing two very good teams, and getting two wins was going to be very difficult. To come out and get blasted like we did is very disappointing. Both teams shot lights out, mainly due to our defensive breakdowns and lack of effort. It is completely on me to make sure we are ready to play with incredible effort. We will get these mistakes corrected in practice next week.”
Baker (9-5, 2-1 HAAC) returns to action on Jan. 5 when they travel to Peru State College (1-12, 0-3 HAAC) for a 7:30 p.m., tipoff.
