BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – In its 2012-13 season opener, the Baker University men's basketball team fell to Hastings College, 61-54, to fall to 0-1, while Hastings improved to 2-0.

The Wildcats trailed, 27-23, at halftime but rallied back to take its first lead of the second half with 10:17 to go, as Todd Johnston hit a three-pointer to put Baker up, 42-41.

But the Broncos went on a 10-0 run after that point to put the game just out of reach. After trailing by as many as 14 points, Baker did get some buckets from Christopher Lockhart and Baba Diallo late to pull the lead back to five points at 57-52, but Hastings pulled away from that point on and took home the seven point victory.

The Wildcats weren't able to push a player into double digits in scoring but Ben Steinlage and Samer Jassar each had a team high eight points and EJ Carter led Baker with seven rebounds.

Both Hastings and Baker had 29 turnovers on the day. Corey Anderson led Baker with three steals and as a team the Wildcats had 10 steals.

Three Broncos scored in double figures including, Brady Lollman with a game high 22, Dane Bacon added 17 and Dylan Flinn had 10.

Carter, Johnston and Jordan Honore all knocked down a three-pointer for Baker and the 'Cats held Hastings to just 33.3-percent from behind the arc.

Baker will return home this Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. to take on Haskell Indian Nations University.
