Coach Dooley Earns First Career Win

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker University first-year head coach Sean Dooley and his men's basketball team picked up his first career win on Tuesday night with a 65-50 victory over Haskell Indian Nations University at the Collins Center.

Baker improved to 1-1 on the year and dropped Haskell to an overall mark of 0-3 early on in the 2012-13 season.

Ben Steinlage had a game high 13 points and a team high six rebounds on 6-of-9 shooting and the Wildcats held Haskell to just 19 points in the first half and entered the break up, 27-19.

The Wildcats then turned up the offense in the second half with 38 points and Steinlage poured in nine of his 13 in that second half.

Haskell had two players score in double figures in Trey Osborne with 11 and Ron Rousseu with 10.

Baker was outrebounded, 39-35, but caused 28 turnovers and has now caused 57 turnovers in its two games combined.

Julian Mills was second on the team in scoring on Tuesday with nine points and added a team high three assists.

Baker shot 45-percent from the field, but only managed to connect on 2-of-12 from beyond the arc for a percentage of 16.7. They did hold Haskell to just 34-percent shooting from the floor.

The Wildcats will next take on the University of St. Mary this Friday, Nov. 9 and Ottawa Saturday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. in the Ottawa Clasic.
