Baker falls to 6-3 on the year, while St. Gregory's improves to 5-2 overall and extends its winning streak to four on the season.
Three Wildcats scored in double figures including Ben Steinlage who scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Chris Lockhart also scored in double figures for the third straight game with his 10 points and Jordan Honore poured in 13.
Fayzon Ritchey carried St. Gregory's all day with his 30 points on 9-of-17 shooting and 12 rebounds and knocked down five three-point field goals.
Baker got to the line 15 times and connected on 9-of-15, while the Cavaliers knocked down as many free-throws as the Wildcats attempted, shooting 15-of-25 from the line.
Baker entered halftime down just four, 37-33, and traded baskets with the Cavaliers early in the second half, but SGU pushed its lead to 11 points, 50-39, with a bucket from Ritchey.
Lockhart cut that Cavalier lead all the way down to four, 63-59, with a three-point basket with 4:49 left in the game and caused a SGU timeout.
Out of the timeout Ritchey nailed another three-pointer to put the Cavaliers up seven and Baker was unable to come within five points the rest of the game.
Corey Anderson tied Steinlage for the team lead in rebounds with seven and Honore led Baker from the outside, shooting 3-of-4 from behind the arc.
The Wildcats will next hit the hardwood on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Heart of America Athletic Conference regular season opener in Kansas City, Mo., at Avila University.
