Baker Suffers Road Loss at No. 16 EU

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – No. 16 Evangel University led with hot shooting and stifling defense to run past Baker University, 80-39, on Tuesday night to hand Baker its second conference loss of the season.

The Crusaders improved to 9-3 overall and 2-1 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, while the Wildcats fell to 7-5 and 1-2 in the HAAC.

Ben Steinlage led Baker with nine points on the night and the Wildcats managed just two three-point field goals with Jordan Honore and Corey Anderson knocking down one apiece.

Evangel posted four double-digit scorers, as Jayme Donnelly led all players with 15 and teammate Stephen Cotton added 14.

Evangel outrebounded Baker, 36-23, and only turned the ball over 12 times. Evangel led throughout and the score was only tied once at 2-2 in the first half.

The Wildcats will return to the hardwood on Friday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in an exhibition game at NCAA Division II William Jewell College.
