BU Swats Graceland for Fourth Straight

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University men's basketball team held Graceland to just 33.3-percent shooting and only 4-of-20 from the three-point line to capture its fourth straight HAAC victory and season sweep over Graceland in a 62-48 win over the Yellowjackets on Thursday night.

Baker improves to 14-8 on the year and 7-5 in the HAAC and sports the longest winning streak currently in the conference.

Graceland falls to 5-18 and 2-10 in the conference and has now dropped six straight. Baker is now just a half game back of Benedictine for fourth-place in the HAAC standings.

The Wildcats were led in scoring by Kevin Lysaught with 15. The senior came off the bench and shot 5-of-7 from the floor and had three rebounds in 21 minutes of action.

Baker's bench was terrific, outscoring Graceland, 28-9. The Wildcats also had 14 second chance points and dominated the boards, outrebounding GU, 42-28.

Senior Samer Jassar led the team in rebounds with six and Jordan Honore was the team leader in assists with three.

Along with Lysaught, two other Wildcats scored in double figures, as Ben Steinlage dropped 14 and Corey Anderson scored 10.

Graceland only had one player score in double figures, as Alex Roth scored 18 and Trae Patton led the squad in rebounding with four.

Baker trailed just once early in the first half by two points and the score was never tied. The Wildcats will now take on No. 21 ranked Evangel University this Saturday, Feb. 2 at 4 p.m. Evangel comes in with a record of 16-5 and 9-2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
