Big Second Half Pushes Baker Past KWU

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University men's basketball team opened up the home portion of its schedule with an 83-63 win over Kansas Wesleyan on Tuesday night to improve to 2-2.

The Coyotes fell to 2-3 on the year and were outscored in the second half by Baker, 52-31, and were outrebounded in the game by 13, 47-34.

EJ Carter and Eric Watson each had double-doubles for the Wildcats, as Carter had 15 points and 10 boards and Watson had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Baker held KWU to just 35.5-percent from the floor and struggled from behind the arc shooting, 6-of-22.

Baker went to the free-throw line 29 times and shot 82.8-percent on 24-of-29 and had 10 offensive rebounds.

Three other Wildcats scored in double figures, as senior Todd Johnston poured in 10, Jared Fulks had 10 and Javeion Gray had a team high 16. Gray shot 5-of-8 from the floor and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the line.

Baker will next compete in two exhibition games up next as they travel to Warrensburg, Mo., to take on University of Central Missouri on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m. and then they will face Northwest Missouri State on Nov. 20 at 7 p.m.
