No. 15 Benedictine Stifles Baker, 76-53

ATCHISON, Kan. – No. 15 ranked Benedictine College ended its two-game losing streak by taking down Baker University, 76-53, on Thursday evening.

With the win, BC improved to 11-5 overall 4-0 and is tied for first-place in the HAAC standings with No. 6 Evangel, while Baker fell to 8-7 on the season and 2-2 in the HAAC.

Baker kept it close early, trailing just 10-7, with 11 minutes left in the first half. But BC took over from there and went into halftime up 15 points, 36-21.

They then continued that play in the second half outscoring Baker, 40-32, in the second frame.

Manuel Barnes was the only Wildcat to score in double figures with 15 and surprisingly BU leading scorer EJ Carter was shutout in 13 minutes of play with zero points and just two rebounds.

Both teams shot well from the free-throw line, as Baker went 18-of-22 from the free-throw line and BC shot 78.6-percent, 11-of-14.

Baker will take on another Top 25 program this Saturday, Jan. 11 at 4 p.m., as they host No. 19 ranked Culver-Stockton at the Collins Center.
