BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University men's basketball team made a late comeback, but couldn't come out with a victory as they fell to No. 5 ranked Evangel, 75-69, on Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats shot 38-percent from the field, while the Crusaders shot 39-percent. Zack Kleine led the way for Evangel with 22 points and Korry Tillery also had 11 points and a team high 12 rebounds.

Tyrome Parker and E.J. Carter led the charge for BU after scoring 13 points and Carter also added 10 rebounds.

Baker was down by 20 with 9:45 left in the game but the Wildcats stormed back to cut the deficit to seven with three minutes left. Then the Crusaders pulled away in the end with solid free-throw shooting down the stretch.

Baker shot 8-of-20 from beyond the arc and Evangel was 7-of-22. Despite scoring 20 points in the paint as a unit, the Wildcats surrendered 13-second chance points.

Evangel was 20-of-23 from the charity stripe and Baker shot 13-of-19 from the line. The Wildcats also forced 13 turnovers, while recording 10 assists.

Baker will next travel to Peru, Neb., to face Peru State on Thursday January 23 at 7:30 p.m.
