Baker men drop a heart breaker in overtime
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Culver-Stockton's Phil Peugh stole the show Saturday afternoon in Baldwin City. Peugh recorded a team-high 24 points while shooting a whopping 62 percent from the field and recording the game-winning three-pointer for Culver-Stockton (3-12, 1-4)
Baker (7-7, 0-4) was led by Andre Strozier who recorded 19 points and 14 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. Jaris Wommack and Malcolm Greer recorded 12 and 11 points respectively.
Wildcats host Culver-Stockton College Saturday afternoon
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Baker men's basketball (7-6, 0-3) looks to get back on track in the Heart of America Athletic Conference when they host Culver-Stockton College (2-12, 0-4) Saturday afternoon. Tipoff is slated for 4:00 p.m.
Baker is coming off a 75-69 victory against Bethel College (Kan.) last Saturday when Andre Strozier recorded his third-best scoring performance of the season with 18 points. Strozier went 7-14 from the field and 3-5 from beyond the arc.
The Wildcats currently rank No. 4 nationally averaging 76 percent from the free-throw line and No. 27 nationally from beyond the arc at 37.1 percent.

Baker men get back on track with win over Bethel College
NEWTON, Kan. - Junior Andre Strozier led the way, scoring 18 points as the Baker men improved to 7-6 on the season. Three other players scored in double figures: Jaris Wommack with 14, Malcom Greer with 13 and Austin Bond with 12.
The game was never in doubt as the Wildcats led throughout, taking a 35-32 lead into halftime before closing the game with a score of 75-69.
Baker will be back in action Thursday when they take on Avila University at 7:30 p.m.

Baker men fall in their New Year's Day debut
NEWTON, Kan. - Turnovers were the story Friday evening as Baker bowed to the Falcons by a score of 52-75.
The Wildcats, now 6-6 on the season, trailed for nearly the entire game. The Wildcats trailed 22-29 heading into halftime. The Falcons pushed the offense and outscored the Wildcats 46-30 in the second half.
Andre Strozier led the way for the Wildcats, scoring 16 points while pulling down 7 rebounds. Junior swingman Malcolm Greer (pictured) scored just 9 points while shooting 0-4 from beyond the arc.

Baker men travel to Bethel to participate in holiday classic
NEWTON, Kan. - The Baker men's basketball team will be back in action for the first time since Dec. 5. The Wildcats (6-5, 0-3) are led by senior Malcolm Greer, who averages 13.5 points per game. Andre Strozier is the Wildcats' leading rebounder, collecting 8.5 rebounds per game. Strozier also averages 13.4 points per game and has recorded four double-doubles on the season.
On Friday the ’Cats will face Friends University (7-5, 0-0) at 5 p.m. The Falcons are led by junior Chris Jackson, who averages 18.5 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.

Weaver to retire as Baker’s men’s basketball coach
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Rick Weaver, Baker University’s men’s basketball coach for the past 25 years, has announced his plans to retire from coaching at the end of the 2009-2010 academic year.
“It’s been a quick 25 years coaching at BU,” Weaver said. “It’s never easy to give up something that you enjoy, but I’ll be turning 60 before next season starts, it’s time. The early announcement will hopefully assist with the search process and I will do everything I can to help with the transition. It’s been a privilege to coach so many great kids over the last quarter century.”
Weaver will continue to teach and assist with fund raising through 2011-2012 at the university.
Weaver in 1985-86 became the 10th head men’s basketball coach in Baker University’s history. During his tenure at Baker, he has guided the Wildcats to 352 victories, the school’s first Heart of America Athletic Conference basketball title in 1989 and a trip to the NAIA national tournament in 1996 when the Wildcats set a school record with 25 victories.

No. 12 Lindenwood overpowers Baker 57-70
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Baker men's basketball team knew it had a tough task ahead when it faced No. 12 Lindenwood University Saturday evening.
Baker trailed by as many as 13 points before making a run to close that gap to four points late in the second half. In the end, Lindenwood was too much for the Wildcats.
Malcolm Greer led the way for the Wildcats, scoring 17 points. Brock Entner chipped in with 10.
Baker will be idle until Jan 1, when they travel to the Bethel Classic.

Baker men fall to Benedictine 68-79
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Wildcats closed the gap to within three points late in the game, but in the end, the Wildcats weren't able to keep the momentum rolling.
Three player scored in double figures, Andre Strozier with 16, Brock Entner with 16 and Malcolm Greer with 14.
Six-foot, 10-inch Chris Bonham led the way for the Ravens, scoring 18 points off 9-18 shooting while pulling down 10 rebounds en route to the victory.
Andre Strozier recorded his fourth double-double of the season pulling down 10 rebounds along with his 16 points.
Baker will be back in action Saturday when they host Lindenwood University at 7:30 p.m.
