2009 Season Outlook

Coach Karen Exon is pleased to announce the signing of four solid freshmen golfers who are expected to complement a solid group of six seniors, one junior, and four sophomores.

Mason Dick from Baldwin City and Andy Sherman from Andover, Kan., qualified for spring 2009 state high school championships. Sherman helped lead his Andover Central High School team to the Kansas State 5A title at Emporia Municipal Golf Course last May. They are joined by freshman Jacob Draisey of Raytown South High School, Luke Harshfield of Wichita North High School, and walk-on Blake Randels from Baldwin High School.


Fall qualification rounds will result in the following line-up for the first fall tournament, the William Woods University Show Me Classic hosted at the Fulton, Mo., Tanglewood Golf Course. Senior Co-Captains Gavin Tatrn of Topeka and Zack Rockey of Udall, Kan., will play no. 1 and no. 2 on the varsity squad. Sophomore Eric Reimer from Emporia will play no. 3, while freshmen Mason Dick and Andy Sherman round out the varsity squad at nos. 4 and 5.

The junior varsity squad will be led in the no. 1 spot by senior Brent Bechard who is formerly from Holton but now hails from Overland Park. Junior Adam Taylor from Independence, Kan., will play no. 2. Salina sophomore Kevin Hostetter will play no. 3, while Holton senior Tim Sipe plays in the no 4 spot. Rayton, Mo., freshman Jacob Draisey will play in the no. 5 spot.
