Baker men take second at Avila University Adam Taylor

LEE’S SUMMITT, Mo. – The Baker men’s varsity and JV teams competed against five other varsity and three other JV NAIA squads in the two-day 36-hole Avila University Tournament.

Monday play saw rainy and cool conditions with golfers getting into and out of rain gear as showers ran through the area from before the round started and 10 a.m., until late afternoon as the sun broke out with about three holes to play.

Tuesday’s second round saw sunny and warmer conditions with a 10-15 mph northwest wind, nearly ideal golf weather.

Senior Adam Taylor (pictured) posted a second-round 75 and was supported by 78’s from junior Eric Reimer and freshman Cody Bonebrake. The Baker JV squad was paced by freshman Sean Walsh’s 79-76 and Andy Kelly’s 81-80.

Taylor earned all-tournament honors with his fourth-place individual finish, while the Baker varsity finished the tournament in second-place after shooting the low team round (312) for Tuesday.

The Wildcats return to action on Oct. 17th when they travel to the Missouri Valley College Fall Invitational.
