The Baker varsity team finished in second-place behind host Southwestern and the junior varsity squad took home sixth.
The Wildcats were led by sophomore Kelley Thompson who put up back-to-back scores of 76 to finish T-4 for the tournament. Juniors Alex Zuzelski and Andy Kelley finished 9th and 10th with scores of 79-80 and 78-82 respectively.
Freshman Grant Grego rebounded from a substandard first-round 85 to shoot 78 on Tuesday and senior Luke Harshfield anchored the JV squad with a strong first round 79 and second round 84 to tie HAAC Men’s Golfer of the Week, Grego.
Playing on their home course, the Southwestern College varsity squad won the tournament behind the stellar play of Bobby Weidner who had a first-round course-record-setting 6-under-par 66 on Monday.
He backed that up Tuesday with a 1-over-par 73, while teammate Shane Gilbert finished 1-under-par for the tournament with rounds of 71-72.
The BU men’s varsity team started the Fall season with a 4th-place finish out of 10 teams at the Evangel tournament, posted two second-place team finishes at the Baker Fall Invitational and the Southwestern Fall invitational, and took first last week at the Park University Fall Invitational. The Fall schedule has come to an end and the Wildcats will now prepare this offseason for the Spring season.
