UMKC takes down BakerUMKC Fans

KANSAS CITY, MO. - The No. 16 Baker Wildcats of the NAIA Heart of America Athletic Conference traveled to UMKC on Tuesday evening to take on the 5-7-2 Kangaroos of the NCAA Summit League for a NAIA/NCAA nonconference showdown

UMKC got on the scoreboard first 14 minutes into the first half when David Sarabia received a pass from John Bayron Sosa and shot the ball past goalkeeper Alex Burton into the lower-left corner of the net from 20 yards out.

Baker came close to tying the score 4 minutes later when Jacob Chiarelli received a cross from Kome Okiomah that went just wide

At the 30-minute mark the Kangaroos struck again on their second shot of the night when Tom Black evaded the Baker defenders, blasting one past Burton, who got a piece of the ball before it trickled past the goal line into the Baker net.

Heading into halftime Baker trailed the Kangaroos 2-0.

Ryan Perez of UMKC made the first goal of the second by ripping a goal into the top-right corner of the goal just past a diving Alex Burton to give UMKC a 3-0 lead. From that point UMKC controlled the game, holding Baker to two shots on goal in the half.

The Wildcats take a record of 10-2-4 into Senior Day on Friday against Culver-Stockton College at 7 p.m.
