No. 24 Baker men take season opener 2-1 over Southern Nazarene Tom Lowndes contributed on both Baker goals.

BETHANY, Okla. - For the third year in a row Baker soccer recorded a win in the season opener with the latest 2-1 victory over Southern Nazarene University (0-1) Friday afternoon.

Baker (1-0) came out in a dominating fashion in the first half, taking seven shots, four of which were on goal. Baker didn't stop the relentless attack in the second half, the Wildcats recorded 10 shots, six were on goal.

Tom Lowndes (pictured) broke the scoreless tie in the 56th minute when he blasted a free kick from 25 yards out into the bottom right corner of the goal.

In the 75th minute, the Crimson Storm tied the match 1-1 on a goal from Blake Rodgers.

Lowndes wasn't finished. With 2:17 remaining in regulation Nick Aguilar drilled home a goal courtesy of a corner kick from Tom Lowndes.

Goalkeeper Michael Sheridan recorded his first win as a Wildcat stopping six shots and deflecting a handful of shots that were inside the box. The Wildcats outshot the Crimson Storm 17-11 on the day.

Baker will be back in action Saturday afternoon when they face Oklahoma Christian University at 7:00 p.m. CT in Edmond, Okla.
