Baker men’s soccer required to forfeit game against Benedictine Champions of Character

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Due to an NAIA rules’ infraction, the Baker University men’s soccer team will be required to forfeit the Oct. 9th contest between Baker and Benedictine College.

Baker, currently 8-4-2 overall and 4-1-1 in the HAAC will now drop to 7-5-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the HAAC.

“As an institution we believed we were acting with the utmost integrity during the process of an appeal for a red card,” said associate athletics director Theresa Yetmar. “Upon notification that we had played an ineligible student-athlete, we immediately turned in the self-report documentation to the NAIA.  We are disappointed by the outcome for our men’s soccer program, but we are committed to upholding the five core values of the NAIA within our institution.”

The Wildcats will return to action on Oct. 23rd when they face Lindenwood University at 8 p.m., at Liston Stadium.
