The Ravens got the scoring started early when team leader Kyle Greig scored off a corner kick from Tory McKerrell in the 13th minute. Baker didn’t have any answers in the first half, as they didn’t record a single shot on goal.
Second half action saw the tables turn. Odaine Sinclair tied the game in the 45th minute just 39 seconds out of the break on a throw-in from Steven Stewart. The game remained tied until the 82nd minute when Benedictine broke free on a give-and-go from Joe Sbarro to Troy McKerrell. McKerrell blasted a shot past goalkeeper Alex Burton that hit the far post and went into the back of the net, ultimately sealing the victory for Benedictine.
Baker (10-6-2) will remain hopeful on its chances for an at-large bid into the NAIA postseason tournament. Benedictine (11-5-1) will travel to No. 2 Missouri Valley College for a semifinal game on Thursday evening.
