No. 13 Baker improves to 8-0 on the season

BU Soccer 8-0

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – It was Family Weekend in Baldwin City and the Baker men’s soccer team proved why its 8-0 undefeated start is no joke. The Wildcats defeated Midland Luthern (Neb.) 4-2 on Saturday afternoon.

Josh Rydberg put the Wildcats on the board first with a goal off a corner kick from Tom Lowndes just 1:48 into the game. Ben Coyle would score another Baker goal in the 54th minute, but Midland Lutheran quickly answered in the 56th minute on a goal from Rob Capewell.

“The guys played pretty well, we scored a goal inside the first two minutes,” said head coach Nate Houser. “It was great to play a team that was very direct, and we closed out a great weekend with nine goals over two games, it was pretty exciting all around.”

Nick Ebmeyer and Odaine Sinclair added to the Baker tally with goals in the 70th and 82nd minute respectively. Paul Cox added a goal for Midland Lutheran in the 88th minute pushing the final score to 4-2.

Look for the Wildcats to make a move in the Sept. 20 NAIA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll.
