No. 2 Baker Loses at No. 7 USAO

CHICKASHA, Okla. – In what was tabbed the NAIA’s Men’s Soccer Game of the Week, No. 2 ranked Baker University lost to No. 7 USAO, 2-1, on Friday evening to open the 2012 season.

 In the 18th minute of the match, USAO scored off a goal by Perry Sansford and the assist went to Sean McLaughlian.

Baker responded in the second half with a goal from senior defender Donny George in the 70th minute with the assist coming from Ethan Bauer.

After the first overtime, USAO put the game away with a goal from Nicolas Alberto and assist by Niail Burley to take its season opener.

Baker keeper Matt Bickley had eight saves in 108 minutes of action and Cameron Zimmerman and Andy Griffin led the way with three shots. Odaine Sinclair took one shot and teammates Austin Shiney, Andrew Meinking and Amer Didic all added a shot taken.

The Wildcats will take on Oklahoma City tomorrow at 7 p.m. on the road in Oklahoma City, Okla.
