Men's Soccer Holds off Park for 1-0 Win

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – In a defensive battle from start to finish, the Baker University men’s soccer team defeated Park University, 1-0, on Wednesday night for its first win of the 2012 season.

Baker improved to 1-3-1 on the season, while Park falls to 1-3. Nick Aguilar scored the lone goal of the evening on a penalty kick in the 67th minute.

The PK came after a Park University defender was called for a handball inside the penalty box.

Baker dominated in shot attempts taking 17 and gave up just five shot attempts to the Pirates.

Park had just one shot on goal, while the Wildcats managed five. Matt Bickley earned the shutout for Baker.

Ben Coyle, Ethan Bauer and Aguilar led the team in shots with three and Donny George attempted two.

There were 22 fouls called in the defensively stout match, as Baker was called for 12 and Park was whistled for 10.

Baker will return to the pitch this Saturday, Sept. 15 at 3:30 p.m., as they take on No. 19 Ashford University at Liston Stadium.
