The Bulldogs fell to 4-1 on the year and its perfect start to the 2012 season has ended. Brendan Allen collected the win at goalkeeper for the Wildcats and Baker now improves to 2-1-1 at home in 2012.
Klein lit up the scoreboard first for the Cats’ in the 16th minute with his second goal of the season and teammate Ethan Bauer collected the assist.
Just before halftime Griffin knocked in a goal to put the Wildcats up two scores with the assist going to Sean McAlister.
Johnny Nuthall made things interesting for McPherson with a goal of his own in the 71st minute to bring the Baker lead to just one.
But Griffin put away the match for good off of a long throw in from McAlister, Griffin sailed it through the net past keeper Taylor Parrott and gave McPherson its first loss of the season.
Baker took 10 shots on goal and 19 total attempts, compared to seven total shots for the Bulldogs with three on goal. Despite giving up three goals, McPherson’s Parrott had seven saves and Allen had two saves for Baker.
The Wildcats will next face nationally ranked Kansas Wesleyan this Sunday, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. in Salina, Kan.
