The Wildcats and Cougars each picked up its fourth tie of the season, as the Wildcats are now 6-5-4 and Columbia is 13-0-4. CC moved up three spots this week in the NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll from No. 7 to No. 4.
Baker scored first in the 7th minute on Nick Aguilar’s third goal of the season. Andy Griffin and Ben Coyle combined on the assist for Baker and put the Wildcats in great position.
Just a few minutes later, Antonio Ayers tied things up in the 26th minute, with the assist going to Dale McCormack.
The rest of the match went scoreless with Goalkeeper Matt Bickley picking up five saves for Baker and Matt McKenna saved three Wildcat shots for Columbia.
The Cougars took 11 shots on the night, with Rafael Ramos and Andres Acosta each taking three to lead the team.
Baker took 14 shots with four on goal. Griffin had a team high five shots and Amer Didic, Aguilar, Richard Klein and Sean McAlister had the four shots on goal for Baker.
The Wildcats had two shot attempts in each of the first and second overtimes and allowed just one shot to the Cougars in the first OT and none in the second.
Baker will next return home to face Culver-Stockton this Saturday, Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. for senior night.
The Wildcats will honor 11 seniors before the match including Brendan Allen, Richard Klein, Donny George, Ethan Bauer, Nick Aguilar, Odaine Sinclair, Laeth Hamil, Josh Rydberg, Nate Byarlay, Jose Baquierzo and Sean McAlister.
