Men’s Soccer Wins Third Straight

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University men's soccer team won its third straight match on Saturday evening after a 2-1 win over No. 21 ranked Kansas Wesleyan University at Liston Stadium.

The Wildcats have now won three straight and four of its last five matches and improve to 5-3-1 on the year, while the Coyotes fell to 3-3 overall.

Baker scored both of its goals in the first half, as Amer Didic slammed home a free kick goal from about 30 yards out past KWU keeper Alex Montiel in the 26th minute to put Baker up 1-0 and Andy Griffin scored what proved to the game-winner with a header goal in the 35th minute. Ben Coyle tossed a perfect throw in from out of bounds, as he placed it perfectly in the box and Griffin headed it home.

The Coyotes only goal came in the 80th minute when KWU was awarded a penalty kick and Diego Cocon easily scored the PK past keeper Matt Bickley.

Baker took 18 shots on the night and its defense allowed just eight shots and four on goal. 11 Wildcats took shots and Robert Hoeven and Griffin led the way with three shots apiece.

Bickley had three saves on the night and now has 24 saves on the season.
