Baker Falls Back Two Spots in NAIA Poll

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University men's soccer team fell two spots in this week's NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 poll from No. 14 to No. 16 and will face a Top 10 team this Tuesday night.

The Wildcats are currently 9-5-2 on the year and in a tie with MNU and Graceland for second place in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Standings.

Baker will take on No. 6 ranked Missouri Valley on Tuesday evening at 8:30 p.m. in Marshall, Mo., in a huge HAAC match that has postseason implications.

Three other HAAC teams are ranked in this week's poll including No. 4 Benedictine, No. 6 Missouri Valley and No. 15 MidAmerica Nazarene.

NOTES: (All information dates back to 2000) This week, No. 2 Grand View (Iowa) earns its highest ranking in program history after cracking the top five for the first time last week... This year, Mobile (Ala.) became the first former No. 1 to fall out of the Top 25 in the same season since former member Azusa Pacific (Calif.) in 2008... This season, five different teams have been ranked No. 1: Belhaven (Miss.), Mobile, Hastings (Neb.), Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) and Rio Grande (Ohio)... In 2012, just three teams claimed the No. 1 ranking all season: Lindsey Wilson, Rio Grande and Belhaven ... This is the third season—dating back to 2000, and the first since 2006—that, an NAIA-record five teams have been ranked No. 1 during the same year... Cal State San Marcos, Campbellsville (Ky.), Corban (Ore.), Georgia Gwinnett, Our Lady of the Lake (Texas), San Diego Christian (Calif.), St. Thomas (Texas) and Wayland Baptist (Texas) earned their first Top 25 rankings this season... Lindsey Wilson is the longest consecutively ranked active school at 78-straight polls, dating back to the 2007 Preseason Top 25 Poll... Rio Grande is next in line with 71-consecutive rankings, followed by Belhaven at 44 and Missouri Valley at 38... Lindsey Wilson boasts the most all-time No. 1 rankings with 47, followed by Rio Grande with 40, Bethel (Tenn.) with 11 and Hastings with 10... Overall, 18 different teams have claimed the No. 1 spot in the poll... Sixteen of the 21 conferences/independents/unaffiliated groups are represented in the seventh regular-season Top 25 poll... Since 2000, just two teams have spent the entire season ranked No. 1—Bethel in 2009 and Rio Grande in 2004.
