Baker Travels to Alabama for Final Site

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 13 seeded Baker University men's soccer team will travel to Montgomery, Ala., to compete in the second round of the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Tournament, as they take on the No. 4 seeded Ashford University Saints this Monday, Dec. 2 at 11 a.m.

The Wildcats are 15-5-2 and earned a trip to Montgomery after knocking off Midland (Neb.) last Saturday 2-1 in double overtime.

Senior defender Ben Coyle and freshman defender Kyle Young each scored goals for the 'Cats, as Young tied things up before halftime with a score and Ben Coyle nailed home the victory in double OT with his goal.

Ashford is 14-4-1 and earned a trip to the National Tournament after clinching a 3-2 victory at home over Cardinal Stritch (Wisc.) also in two overtimes.

The Saints offense has been explosive in 2013, as three players have at least 10 goals. Daniel Dreier leads the team with 14, while Lucas Almeida and Javier Ramirez each have 10.

Baker and Ashford met in the first game of the 2013 season back on August 24 up in Clinton, Iowa.

The Wildcats won 2-1 in overtime after trailing 1-0. Amer Didic scored the game-tying goal in the 88th minute, then Richard Klein received a pass from Matt Hamm to score the game-winning goal in the 96th minute.

Wildcats goalkeeper Matt Bickley had four saves, while Saints goalkeeper Patrick Kinsella had five. Bickley has 88 total saves this season and Kinsella has 64.

The winner of this game will play Wednesday, Dec. 4 in the national quarterfinals against either No. 5 seeded Rio Grande (Ohio) or No. 12 seeded Embry-Riddle (Fla.).
