HAAC title quest begins tonight for men's soccerMen's Soccer

Baldwin City, Kan. — The No. 17 Baker men's soccer team will begin their quest for back-to-back HAAC Championships tonight when they take on Lindenwood University (7-9-2, 5-3-1) at 7 p.m. at Liston Stadium.

The Wildcats hold an 11-2-5 overall record and 4-1-4 mark in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

Men's soccer grabs three first-team All-HAAC honorsMatt Griffin

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its 2009 All-Conference selections on Wednesday evening. Baker didn't disappoint. Matt Germain, Luke Haidarovic and Matt Griffin were named to the first team.

Kome Okiomah was named All-HAAC second team, while goalkeeper Alex Burton and Laethe Hamil were named to the third team.

Matt Griffin (pictured) was also named HAAC Defensive Player of the Year. "He is the best center back in the league. He wins everything in the air," stated head coach Nate Houser.

Baker will be back in action Monday when they host Graceland University in the first round of the HAAC playoffs at 7 p.m. at Liston Stadium.

Haidarovic nets hat trick on Senior NightLuke Haidarovic

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – No. 16 Baker got back on track Tuesday evening when they faced the reeling Culver-Stockton Wildcats.

Senior Luke Haidarovic (pictured) scored the first three goals of the game netting his first hat trick of the season on senior night.

Steven Stuart chipped in two goals, one late in the first half, and one early in the second.

Matt Germain and Nick Aguilar rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats as they went on to roll 7-0.

Goalkeeper Alex Burton recorded his seventh shutout of the season as the No. 16 Wildcats improved to 11-2-4 overall and 4-1-3 in the HAAC.

Baker will be back in action Tuesday evening when they face conference rival Graceland University at 7:30 p.m. in the season finale. View the full box score here.

UMKC takes down BakerUMKC Fans

KANSAS CITY, MO. - The No. 16 Baker Wildcats of the NAIA Heart of America Athletic Conference traveled to UMKC on Tuesday evening to take on the 5-7-2 Kangaroos of the NCAA Summit League for a NAIA/NCAA nonconference showdown

UMKC got on the scoreboard first 14 minutes into the first half when David Sarabia received a pass from John Bayron Sosa and shot the ball past goalkeeper Alex Burton into the lower-left corner of the net from 20 yards out.

Burton named HAAC Defensive Player of the WeekAlex Burton

Junior goalkeeper Alex Burton was named HAAC Defensive Player of the Week after recording his sixth shutout of the season on Saturday evening. Burton has played every minute this season for the Wildcats, where he has posted a 1.010 goals against average with 57 saves.
