Tennis teams geared up for outdoor season

Men's Tennis

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. -The Baker tennis season is well under way as the men’s team remains winless and the women’s team holds a 1-2 record. The two losses for the men and women’s teams have come against NCAA DII squads. Both teams dropped the season opener against Newman University 9-0.

The women rebounded nicely against NAIA opponent Tabor College. Caitlin Metseff clinched the win for the women’s team with a 6-3, 2-6, (10-8) victory.

The men started the day off with a 2-1 advantage in the doubles but only managed one victory in the singles as they lost 3-6.

Both teams struggled again in their second match with an NCAA DII opponent. Rockhurst swept the day by winning 9-0 over the women and 7-0 over the men.

Next action for both Baker tennis teams is the Spring Alumni Match in Overland Park at 7 p.m. on March 12th. The Wildcats return to NAIA competition on March 19th to take on Concordia (Neb.) in Overland Park at 9 a.m.
