Freshman Megan Rosa led all Wildcat runners, taking third place overall in the women’s division with a time of 1 hour, 27 minutes, 4 seconds. Assistant coach Brent Bailey led the men’s side, posting a 1:14.44 time to place second overall. Junior Chris Schideman came in one spot behind Bailey, posting a time of 1:16:22.
Running a half-marathon was only half of the story.
Twenty-two Baker student-athletes sorted more than 1,000 pounds of food and other items at Feeding South Florida food bank. The food came through local food drives and private donations to help the hungry, needy and homeless in Palm Beach County. Other members of the team spent time making Christmas cards, which will be sent overseas to troops and to local nursing homes and shelters.
“I’m real proud of the way our kids performed,” Wildcat head coach Zach Kindler said. “We had some great times during the race, and obviously being able to lend a helping hand in any way possible to the Feeding South Florida was an added plus.”
