Stanclift Promoted to Head Softball Coach

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker University Director of Athletics Theresa Yetmar announced on Friday the promotion of Interim Head Softball Coach Jamie Stanclift to the position of Head Softball coach and Assistant Volleyball Coach effective immediately.

Stanclift served as the Assistant Volleyball Coach for Head Coach Kathy Allen in the fall and Interim Head Softball Coach this Spring leading Baker to a 22-24 record, finishing fourth in the HAAC and the 'Cats advanced to the quarterfinals of the HAAC Championship Series.

Baker also had a plethora of HAAC postseason awards under Stanclift in 2014 including the HAAC Softball Freshman of the Year in pitcher Katt Cooper.

Renata Dill, Mallorie Nelson and Cooper were all named to the HAAC First Team All-Conference. Dill and Nelson also earned a Gold Glove award and Alyse Menghini was named to the HAAC Second Team All-Conference.

On the Volleyball court, under Allen, Stanclift and assistant coach Crysti Bell, Baker went 23-9 overall and tied for second in the regular season standings and advanced all the way to the HAAC Tournament Championship match.

Baker posted two players on the HAAC First Team All-Conference in Dill and freshman Hannah Bettge and Bettge was named the HAAC Freshman of the Year.

Stanclift spent her first season at Baker as the Graduate Assistant for the softball program in 2013 under Head Coach Matt Windle.

"We are very pleased that Jamie will be moving from interim status to a full-time member of our team," said Yetmar. "Jamie has been a tremendous leader for our softball program, and a great contributor to our volleyball program. She has a very strong work ethic, incredible competitive spirit, and positive rapport with our student-athletes.

"Her energy has already made an impact within our programs. I am confident in Jamie's ability to ensure a tradition of success for our softball program."

Stanclift had an impressive playing career at Wichita State prior to her tenure at Baker. She started every game her junior and senior seasons at first base and recorded a career, .982 fielding percentage which ranks her tenth in WSU history.

She was selected a Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week three different times and for her work off the field was named to the MVC Honor Roll.

The Lawrence, Kan., native graduated from Wichita State Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management.

She also served as the assistant coach for the Omaha, Neb., based Frozen Ropes Fury under-18 softball team in 2010-11 and helped lead them to a 2010 USSSA National title with a record of 41-6.

She graduated from Free State high school and was a three-year letter winner in basketball, volleyball and softball.

"I am honored and excited to be chosen to continue to lead our softball and volleyball programs," said Stanclift. "I plan to continue to do exactly what I challenge the student-athletes to do, which is to take it one day at a time and work hard to get better each and every day.

"I look forward to continued growth and success for both programs as we compete for HAAC Championships, and ultimately national titles. Baker is truly a special place, and I am proud to call it my home."
